Just who is buying, and why, in the last 4 trading days?

Jacob, I wholeheartedly share your confusion . We have warnings, more warnings, no "visibility" - yet the semi stocks keep defying gravity and logic and move up. You'd have to think that these guys believe the bottom is imminent or past. Yet we have companies like Xilinx that say that their current inventory levels will take until October to burn off. If they are any indication, that would mean that people are willing to pay today's prices for a recovery in the fourth quarter. Confident folks, indeed.

In a way, we are all doing it ourselves on this thread. We all agree that these stocks are a great buy - although each one of us has a different idea of the price for a great buy. So we sit, rant occasionally, and wait for the bottom (assuming we haven't seen it yet).

P.S. I think that this behaviour simply prolongs the pain for those long these stocks. These are indeed good times to be cautiously short if you play the ranges for these stocks. But all good things come to an end some day.
