Actually, Scumbria, Bush's response is right on target. The problem is in our culture, not in the guns themselves. The alternative would be to take away the right because we neglected the responsibility. And that would be just as effective as outlawing alcohol because of drunk driving accidents, or college date rapes, or even violent Mardi Gras riots.

By the way, no need to remind me of Bush's past. I think if anyone recognizes the consequences of irresponsible living, it's Bush.

P.S. - I agree that guns provide an easy, disconnected way to take someone's life. But I would argue for emphasizing the responsibility over the right, rather than just taking the right away.
