It makes you wonder why ML insists that its analysts have a Series 7 license -- the same license that stockbrokers are required to have.

This does make me wonder and although passing the test for s Series 7 licenses is quite easy, I am surprised Blodget passed. Maybe he took it a few dozen times.

It might also make you wonder why you and your ML broker might have to pull teeth to get those in-depth reports whereas some reporters seem to get a hold of them on a pretty timely basis.

Very strange since my FC has make a special request for them.

I doubt it is smart for Blodget to be mounting a defense via comments to the press. I don't know if what he has said will ever result in any financial hardship to his employer, but it might bring some unwanted scrutiny.

I would think at this point Merrill would make sure Blodget does not say a word without the advice of counsel either in a report or to the press. My opinion is Blodget is making matters far worse. The recent comment from him about his reports were not for the retail investor but rather were for institutions and the brokers leaves his defense in a very precarious position.
