Winfire's predicament shows that InfoSpace took a good bold decision of chopping off 250 people, mostly from the GNET's broadband team.

Free broadband service would of course not survive. Even the paid service offered by ELNK and RCNC do not have many subscribers.

Coming to the merger, INSP issued 72 million shares and got $350 mil cash, which is not bad looking at the current stock price.
