They are just being more "honest" than most regarding inventory.

Being fabless they have 12 weeks in fab/pkg/test inventory.
And 12 weeks inhouse and another 12 weeks at distribution.

So what you are saying is that in spite of the just in time controls, XLNX and ALTR got saddled with a lot of inventory. So that follows what others have said....orders fell off a cliff unexpectantly.

If this is the explanation, I still think its as much a reflection of the computerized operations that companies have installed and the speed at which they operate as it is a reflection of the actual demand for the chips. And I think that demand can be 'turned on' just as quickly.

Just a theory of mine.
