I had held out some hope that Novell would somehow get involved especially by leveraging the Novell Connecting Points (http://www.novell.com/events/ncp/):

NCP services simply stated:
1.Web browsing
2.Email
3.POP Email
4.Telnet
5.Information gathering via on-line surveys
6.Lead generating
7.Show promotions
8.Message board

If anyone has been to COMDEX or BrainShare, they've seen this in action - basically, each user would be offered a swipe card/ID card that would log them into public kiosks/terminals. From these terminals, the user would have access to the above items. Of course, if you're an athlete you would have access to schedules and information that differed from that of journalists and even more different than spectators.

IMO - this could have been a HUGE opportunity to show off Novell technology at the core of a vast intranet. Then again, I'm not saying they didn't try to get this either...I just don't know that information - for all we know, they did and lost the contract to someone else.
