One of the fundamental problems with the biotech sector is stunningly reflected on that thread. Specifically, there is far too much focus on the cleverness and innovation of the biotech companies. And so you see people endlessly talking about the minute scientific details, which finally becomes the end in itself. I'm not knocking that sort of thing, in fact, part of what I do for a living is precisely that, and I very much enjoy it. But it is not investing. And that's why I'm here. Frankly, I couldn't care less what most on that thread think. While I haven't been on that thread in a while, I suspect that you'll find them talking about the same thing that has been thrown around there for years: some clever new product in early stage development by some obscure little start up that almost nobody has ever heard of, with tons of promise. Check back sometime later, and I think you'll find that the product du jour and the company du jour have gone exactly nowhere, but now the talk is on to some other clever new and esoteric product and obscure little company. And the process is repeated ad nauseum. Guess you can tell my head has been.....uh.....wrenched from the lofty, arcane, and even elitist and egotistical biotech clouds, and my nose has been ground into the Wall Street playground dirt, and my lunch money taken from me. But you learn something of value in that process: render unto Science the things that are Science's, and render unto Wall Street the things that are Wall Street's. I could go into great detail why I am convinced that Celera stands head and shoulders above the entire sector, in terms of its future---not so much its present. I have posted at length on that topic before, though not for a while. Since then, I can tell you, Celera's situation has only continued to strengthen. They are building one tremendous foundation. It is a lot of methodical, painstaking work going on now, which in my mind at least, is reminiscent of the Manhattan Project: the world was almost completely in the dark as to what that work was all about---until August 6, 1945, when all at once, in the space of just a few nanoseconds, Hiroshima found out---first hand. For some specifics of my views on Celera, you might look at these:Message 14023824 Message 13986939 Regards, Walkingshadow
