Market Summary....<<10:30AM ET All the indices are approaching new intraday highs as the broad-based rally continues. The Nasdaq is showing a lot of strength with the next resistance in the 2270/2275 area followed by 2308 (late Feb high). Chips continue to lead the way as that sector shrugs off recent warnings and downgrades. Speaking of shrugging off, the brokerages are doing very well despite cautious comments from Salomon Smith Barney on the sector. Goldman (GS +3.05), Lehman (LEH +2.61) and Merrill (MER +2.13) are all up strongly.>>

BTW, CSCO is shrugging off the recent downgrade news...=)

Best Regards,

Scott

Now if more CEOs and CIOs would just pay attention to Jack Welch we would have a great situation...

<<The CEO of General Electric, Jack Welch, articulated his stance on IT spending for 2001 pretty succinctly during a CNBC broadcast earlier this year. He said, "In this company, we are driving the hell out of IT spending. We think it is the lifeblood of the company, and digitization's the most important thing we've undertaken. This is the moment to widen the gap -- you won't see one ounce of slowdown in tech spending from us.">>

I've finished my shopping and am ready for the rebound...=)

Best Regards,

Scott

Hi V, sold the April RMBS $50's with the underlying at $46 for 5 1/8. 20% return is called out in 5 1/2 weeks. Not bad, considering the common was 38 several days ago. That would give me $55/share if called. Considering I paid $85 for the stock, I just keep writing every month. Haven't calculated, but must be getting pretty close to break even while the long holders are just sitting there, waiting for RMBS to come back.

Hi Tom,

Regarding your "the best thing about this move is that it is occurring in the first part of the week", I thought you had indicated in the past that that was typical of a bear market. In a bull situation the market tends to be down early and finish strong by week's end. And the opposite is the case in a bear market. My question is why is it good if this is typical of a bear market.

Later,
Joel
