New topic: Is Corvis for real?

Or are they nothing but hype? They released new products this year and are said to be the frontrunner toward delivering all-optical switches for all-optical routers. . . something the industry will trip over themselves to buy. . .

Is this just another part of the hype that gave them a $31 billion dollar market cap their first week of trading? And is it headed for the pink sheets, so that the investment bankers that turned short over $100 per share can cover under a buck?

Or can they really compete and profit in the competitive fibre-optic industry? And has the stock been slammed to the single-digits [with a new market cap of $2.7 Billion, less than a tenth of the mkt cap at its IPO] to create new opportunities, once the investment banks start up HYPE machine up again and tell everyone how important their products are and how they will bring video-on-demand into every home?

Is this news true? biz.yahoo.com

Did this really happen?

I am anxious to hear all your thoughts.

"Oh, the times they MAY be changin'"-apologies to Robert Zimmerman. A flood of ANALyst downgrades and prices rise...we're seeing more and more of this lately. Not necessarily proof that a line in the sand has been drawn on a tech market bottom but a good indication that knee-jerk selling is becoming increasingly exhausted. A possible boon to position traders looking to establish or increase core holdings for an eventual recovery.

At current levels, some excellent risk/reward candidates would include (imo): QQQ, JDSU, CSCO, CS, AOL, DITC, ANAD, FDRY, EXTR, EXDS, GX, STOR, JNPR, JNIC, FNSR, LPTH (ah, the "Holy Trinity" are once again in alignment!), ADIC, A, OPLK, RFMD, NTRO, WFII, AETH, ARBA, CMRC, PPRO, NUAN, SPWX, AMCC, LRCX (big breakout today)...

Disclaimer: I own these and many, many others. My opinion only but is based largely upon "bonehead" chart and tea leaf readings--MK--
