And this statement is absolutely not true:

Somebody is agreeing to buy at the bid.

Somebody else is agreeing to sell at the ask.

They are BOUND to buy or sell at those levels.

Nothing "wanna-be" about it.

Using closing bid/ask is actually quite generous, BTW. Let's say you have 1000 shares of XYZ. XYZ is 20 x 20 1/4. These rules would give you 20.

But let's say the size of the bid is 100 shares. In the real world, you might not get 20. In the real world, you might get an average price of, say, 19 3/4 by the time you sold the whole lot.
