I'll reiterate that all the bad news is out or anticipated. The shorts will be squeezed, leading to big days like today. Then the general trend will be up because the economies have not been nearly as bad as the stock price decreases. For us VLT holders, this may seem impossible, but AMAT is up nearly 25% since Jan.

Somewhat OT-- I admire the management of AMAT for sharing the burden when there is a slowdown. They decreased their bonuses and salaries proportionate, or more than the workers.

Yesterday's NY Times had a p1 story on Bush Sr. and Baker being involved in a huge money-generating international private investment firm. They are meeting with sheiks etc. Certainly, I would not be cynical enough to suggest that political connections are involved.
