PALM acquires Extended XTND to do more Wireless Corporate this ties into PALM doing linux/Bluetooth/WAP PALM talking to other wireless corporations also. This is the beginning of market domination in this space.
Also QCOM's cdma may be widespread, but we will definitely move toward Europe's GSM and WAP standards,
and when we do, the QCOM OS will be replaced by the PALM OS since PALM ports to all the other analog AND digital operating systems and communications protocols. Add to that the thousands of applications written for the PALM based on the PALM OS and we have the making of a MSFT-like apllications/operating system monopoly here, and with it, like stock performance.
I am,
Truly your$,

P.S. Nice post: siliconinvestor.com
also the USB add on is there with more like it to come, so that PALM's can download and upload to any device, and any other networked appliance.

Acquiring EXTD is indeed a good move. EXTD is a leader in bluetooth. If not PALM, someone else will go for it. This acquisition will arm PALM for its new generation product line and new OS versions incorporated with the bluetooth codes. This acquisition should be very welcome by the Street. Good luck!

Mang:

XTND has a market cap of around $250 million at $23/share. That's either 25% of Palm's cash, or 13 million shares, even without any buyout premium.

XTND traded as high as $140 this time last year and $60+ as recently as 9/00. Hard to see what value to place on XTND based on a quick perusal of its financials - about $54 million in annual sales and running mostly at a loss since its IPO in 3/98.

Hopefully it will be seen as a positive move by the street.
