Tenchusatsu,

L.A. riots, yup. I used to live in Hawthorne, the temp command post was in my old driveway as my landlord was a city counsel woman. At the time, I was in Korea and one of my co-workers father's store was burned to the ground during that episode. Speaking of Koreans in service or "war like" times, I met many older GI's that said they would not hesitate to fight along side Koreans having done so before in the "forgotten" war.

My brother in law did the mandatory military service, it put a dent in his college education. It does build or reveal character and instill some pride in defending what they have built in the last 50 years.

I have to say I love guns, love cleaning them, taking them apart, learning how they work, studing there design/history and shooting them for accuracy and hunting. Like any sport I get really pissed off when someone ruins it for the rest of us "law abiding" sportmens and gun owners. I have handguns but have no illusions that they are going to protect me from an assualt or home intrusion, they are in the safe. I wouldn't have time to get them and they're unloaded, in original boxes, etc. I have to admit those that claim to want a handgun for home defense scare me. A shotgun is much better, and they won't be sending their stray bullets throught their walls into my house.

PS: I've shot in the IR50/50 .22 rifle (a benchrest match) and shot a 248, 16 bullseyes first time out - with a borrowed gun. 250 is perfect and I only took forth place that day. I've seen some pretty good shooters on the high power range, absolutely amazing what they can do from 200-300yds without a scope.
