What is the disconnect here? Is that suppose to make me feel better? What can I say? Violence begets violence. Are we supposed to give it up? Let everyone carry a gun?

It wasn't supposed to make you feel better, but it is evidence that the fact that we have more guns then most other countries is not the reason, or at very least is not the only reason, that we have more murders.

A hundred years ago women could not vote. Two years ago American citizens could own slaves. Times change, circumstances change. What was acceptable in one era, no longer works another.

In both cases the constitution was changed. I'm not saying the constitution is perfect (although I do think it is right about the right recognized in the 2nd amendment). I am saying that it should be followed or changed, not ignored. The government not being restrained by its own laws and constitution is a scary idea.

Its time to change the belief held by the NRA and the others that the right to bear arms meant everyone should carry a weapon.

The right to bear arms doesn't mean everyone should carry a weapon, nor have I seen anything by the NRA supporting this idea. I am a member and I don't own or carry a weapon. There is a difference between "should" and "has a right to". Also the NRA is not promoting this right as applying to convicted felons or people who have been shown to be dangerously insane.

I was hoping for your sake that the NRA was providing kickbacks. They do sit on a pile of coin.

No I give them money not the other way around. (and not a whole lot of money, I have only contributed my membership dues)
