Scumbria,

I use a .22 pistol for grouse while hunting deer with a rifle, a 7mm rem. mag makes feathers out of a grouse.

A .22 pistol is what that damned idiot in California used yesterday.

As for need Scumbria, it's never been about need. It's why do these kids think they can shoot people.

We discussed it, and she finally realized that it was only a matter of time till our boys found the weapon. That is how boys are.

There were two kids here in Seattle that have been best friends since they were 5....they are now 11. About a year ago, one of the kids found his father's gun [his father is a sheriff] and was showing it to his friend when it went off, piercing his friend's lung.

In the beginning its a terrible story to read especially knowing that the kid will be handicapped to some degree for the rest of his life. However, the story becomes much more complicated than 'two kids playing with a gun and the gun goes off, injuring one of them'. It becomes a tale of two parents and a kid refusing to be angry with the perpetrator of the injury nor his parents.Throughout the process of going to the hospital and the kid's recovery, its his parents who are the strong ones and behind them is the injured kid pleading with his parents to still love his friend in spite of what had happened. As a result, the injured boy's parents ended up supporting the other parents and his friend throughout the ordeal. They could have easily become very angry and sued the other family over the incident but instead found the courage to go on caring and not place blame.....quite unusual.
