Well Carl,

That message was way back in July of 1998, and those "appearances" seem to have failed to "solidify."<vbg>

But what did happen? ...Of course there was the peculiar "Road Show I" on which INTC embarked to "pay" certain mfg.'s to produce the stuff. Then too there came the Great Granularity Wars of '98-'99 in which no shots were fired. Let's see,... we had the "El Camino" Road to Nowhere; the IDF Wall of Silence in early 2000 which brought on the big "COM" market scare in late 2000. And certainly the 2001 version of "Road Show II" deserves honorable mention here, ...as well as the recent influx of DDR chip sets and INTC's dabbling in DDR-II standards.

This is tougher than I thought. But if you have to pin me down to one single event I suppose I would say that this post was the final nail in the Coffin:
