Zeev,

I've done a few hundred P&L statements in my time, but never had to get into the arcane distinction of when raw components become finished goods inventory, become costs. My assumption was always that COGS implied Cost Of Goods SOLD, so that if they were not SOLD, they couldn't be counted as a component cost of the goods that were sold.

Guess my assumption was wrong, not the first time. Thanks.
