I shorted DELL today and was glad to hear after the close that Andy Grove of INTC basically said that the market for PC processors will suck for quite awhile. Was long at $21, sold and shorted @ $26.50-$26-5/8.

The DELL bulls are full of "hope" that "it can't get any worse" and DELL will end up as one of the last men standing. When a stock is up on hope, not facts, it ain't the time to buy.

GTW clearly is in deep doo-doo and their retail leases will sink them. That doesn't necessarily make DELL a better stock, because it will take GTW a long time to die, and Ted Waitt has figured out that he actually has to sell boxes.

Will cover short or place trailing stops when DELL trades below $23-1/2 again. Don't expect a real long wait. This one will be in a trading range for awhile and 1,700 people weren't laid-off because management was looking at a one or two quarter problem.

Also keep in mind that sales in Europe will tank shortly as those economies invariably follow the U.S.

Comments strictly directed at stock price. Have highest regard for DELL as a company and its management as corporate citizens.
