Webster,

Many thanks for your thoughtful reply.

It confirmed my "working hypothesis" that today's sell-off had little to do with the fundies of QCOM.

Just as a footnote - for whatever it's worth - a paid service that I am currently subscribing to reports that the late afternoon selling of Q was mostly done by small investors.

Regards,
Ibexx

Web,

"QCOM has the goods and they know it."

I get the sense that Dr J.now believes it's time to go for the jugular.....short-term stock price movements aside, I feel better about my investment in the Q then I ever have. They could conceivably end up with the whole ball of wax when all's said and done.

IJ said CDMA is growing "much more rapidly" or something similar.... but according to gsmworld.com for the months of Oct, Nov, Dec and Jan, GSM had 401.9MM, 420.0, 440.7 and 456.7 subscribers respectively for an increase of 13.6% over three months, while CDMA had 76.2MM, 79.2, 81.9, and 84.6 subscribers or 11.0% growth over three months. Admittedly, this is a GSM Association website, but then the CDMA website at cdg.org says "More than 71 million CDMA subscribers" on top of the home page which turns out to be as of last September and not that far off from the October CDMA figure on the GSM website. Perhaps IJ was talking in terms of future growth when GSM evolves to WCDMA in the 5Mz bandwidths???
