Good points. I agree with you that the ideal short now is a company betting the farm on a new fab coming online. There are almost always serious yield problems the first year as the engineers learn how to calibrate the specific equipments built for that fab, and the workers learn how to use all the equipment in the most efficient manner.

Any candidates? TSMC, INTC, and IBM are not companies I would short for this reason. They are all smart enough to hire the very best people money can buy for their new fabs.
