fyo, Acting as agent for Intel in the past and letting intellians look at samples would be grounds to exclude some people from the sample loop.
If the part is alike the athlon to the point it can be dropped into the same mobo in addition to the possibility of dual mobos that would increase the sampling area as well.

Of course, keeping it all under your hat until all ducks is in a row is also good tactics...avoids the vaporware accusations caused by premature release.
I would expect sampling to preceded volume production by a large enough period that bugs found by industry could be rectified, no sense in pulling another Intel.
