You must be down in southern Jersey..... up here about 15 minutes from the New York state border, we were blessed with about 5 inches total, which is still a far cry from 2 feet of course.....
Back in the 1970's and 80's, I used to beat the NOAA snow forecasts constantly by using a barometer, and watching cloud patterns and storm movements via satellite a day or two before the storm. Since then their storm forecasting has become a bit better, but predicting precise snowfall patterns is one of their biggest remaining problems.
