Internet Broadcasting Systems Speeds TV-to-Web Services Using Anystream(TM)
IBS Taps Agility Enterprise(TM) Encoding Platform to Make Broadcast Programming from Over 50 Local TV Stations Web-Ready
SAN JOSE, Calif., March 6 /PRNewswire/ -- Anystream, an Internet infrastructure software company specializing in enterprise-class streaming media encoding technology, today announced that Internet Broadcasting Systems (IBS, www.ibsys.com), the company leading the convergence of local TV and the Internet, will deploy Anystream's Agility Enterprise(TM) encoding platform to enable more than 50 IBS partner television stations to rapidly, and cost effectively, re-purpose video programming for their online properties.
Anystream made the announcement at the Digital Hollywood Broadband show, currently under way.
"This powerful platform enables IBS to embed high-quality automatic capture, pre-processing, encoding and distribution as part of our Web channel service offerings," said Tolman Geffs, CEO of IBS. "Agility Enterprise makes encoding a transparent part of our network infrastructure, and frees local IBS editors -- who are today forced to be compressionists -- to again focus on creating top-notch content," he said.
The Agility Enterprise encoding platform lets IBS completely automate its current 300-clip daily production workload and, more importantly, enables IBS to get more content online to a significantly broader audience. Rather than each station encoding multiple versions and sending them to a hosting provider, stations now can send one version to IBS, where Agility Enterprise automatically and simultaneously creates streaming media in multiple formats and bit rates.
IBS' partner television stations also benefit from Agility Enterprise's ability to accept video from the input formats most commonly used by broadcast professionals, including live capture and tape sources. Using Agility Enterprise, IBS can output the highest-quality streaming media in Real(R), Microsoft(R) and QuickTime(R) formats and integrate with existing broadcast control and automation systems via a list of broadcast-native external triggers. Additionally, the platform enables IBS to programmatically insert metadata, and performs real-time pre-processing and pre-filtering for optimal media quality.
"By delivering local television stations a turnkey streaming media production capability, IBS customers now can get more video assets onto the Web faster and more reliably than before," said Geoff Allen, president and CEO of Anystream. "The open, extensible architecture of Agility Enterprise also ensures that IBS can rapidly integrate new technologies, and support those new codecs or end-user plug-in's that gain widespread adoption," he said.
The Anystream Agility Enterprise encoding platform -- deployed by clients such as CNN Interactive, Digital Island, NFL Films and Weather.com to automate production, management and distribution of streaming media -- is part of Anystream's Agility architecture-based product line. Anystream also delivers streaming production automation to post-production houses, independent producers and media professionals via its Agility Workgroup(TM) encoder, and -- through its Agility Edge(TM) encoding platform -- brings streaming media encoding to edge of the Internet for CDNs and broadband ISPs.
