Gene, this is my take for what its worth. If a software company hasn't broken into the black no one wants to own it.
That's why the B2B's have been whacked across the head.

Re Newp. I like to see this kind of positive stuff rather than companies reducing losses.

Chip equipment and fiber-optic testing company Newport (NEWP:Nasdaq - news) was up 14.9% in preopen Island trading after revising its 2001 earnings estimate upward.

Newport said now it now expects its February acquisition of Kensington Laboratories to add 17 cents to 20 cents per share to its 2001 earnings, up from the previous estimate of 15 cents a share.

Newport also repeated its expectation of about $50 million in revenue from Kensington this year.
