Lexus are made of steel and with zinc coating for extra rust protection. I think metal gauge is quiet thick. IMHO

11 yrs old - 205Km - salt all winter that makes the blk car appear white - just started to get rust around the rear fender on one side this yr. Honda Accord. Your op on japanese cars is the old stuff. The new (90 and above) - are great.
