What do you consider a "real difference"? Take me to Manhatchimp, show me the Encyclopedia Chimpania, sell me stock in Microchimp---- then I will take your assertion that it is all the same seriously........

"However, without introducing God, there is no real difference between apes and humans (great article in this month's Scientific American about what can only be described as Chimp Culture - never thought to exist - until now)."
You can't authoritatively prove that statement, since as far as we know The God known as Creator and Sustainer of the Universe has always been in the picture. I would agree that, if, you could remove the concept the role of man on the planet becomes debatable in fact it becomes problematic. One of the reasons why even extremist scientists can't completely erase the notion, is that the role of man is to be one who can and does impact the conditions of life for all other species on the planet and is required to do so in a way that contributes to the well being of the creatures of the Earth. There is no reason an environmentalist should have a problem with that. When men take an attitude that they will not concern themselves with what is going on with other creatures, we see the bad results of polution and devestation of habitats. This role has not evolved in the religious literature, and yet it is compatible with the compassion of an environmentalists...but not the extreme ones who hate their fellow men. Aren't you glad I didn't say "dominion?"
