Ted: heres a slightly bemused Canadian reporter writing on the "snow alert" you guys had on the east coast for this supposed monster blizzard

Scott,

Actually, this is more the fault of the weather bureau. Two weather systems were supposed to converge on the East, dumping up to 2 feet of snow but the bureau proved to be wrong.

However, I think the comments by the reporter re the pillaging of the supermarkets were apt. When I was in school back east, a snow storm was heading our way and my roommate at the time suggested we go get a few things to tide us over should we get snowed in. Well, I was shocked at what I saw when we got to the supermarket. People were running around like Godzilla was in Boston and moving west. Given what was in people's baskets, you would think that we were to be snowed in for an entire winter....and you know how fat Americans are to begin with and you just know they already had a ton of food in their larders before they even left home to come to the store. My roommate turned to me and said, do they know something we don't...and then we starting laughing. The storm ended up being a 3 incher.....3 inches of snow on the ground and 3 inches around everyone's waist. LOL
