*OT*Gina, the key comment you and others have made regarding children and any activities (school included) is "parental involvement." There is simply no substitue for an active two-parent household, imo, absolutely none; not a "village" not a social worker...nothing. These may be helpful additions but they are not a replacement for the traditional two-parent family. Anything that degrades or denigrates the family in our society will ultimately be reflected by our society: crime, welfare, drug abuse, teen pregnancies, school dropouts, poor scholastic performance, poor job performance, you-name-it. I blame men for not being "men" enough to shoulder responsibility and properly assume benevolent leadership roles, and I blame women for being duped into thinking that motherhood and raising families somehow makes them inferior or less equal to men. Other than that...I really have no strong opinions!--MK--
