well what always amazed me, len, was not so much what the bumpersticker said, but that he would drive around with it on his car. this was the kind of thing that folks would not often say in public, or maybe only in a circle of close friends.

but if you knew this old doc, you couldn't help but also know his adamancy about what he felt was the gross criminality of the chappaquiddick situation. he literally believed that kennedy got away with murder.

and the bumpersticker represented a sense of outrage and urgency that the doctor felt towards the events of that night.
