Part of the explanation, or description of schizophrenia is that the victims are unable to associate the same meanings to things that we in the "norm" do. You and I don't associate the same meanings to things either. The reason is that you have a brain--and your brain has your experiences, emotions, and ideas--it doesn't have mine. When people become intimate with one another, they can often SHARE their personal meaning with one another. Some people think that their experience should be the benchmark for other human beings. These kinds of people make horrific and dangerous counsellors.
