lurger: Having spent over 40 years (now retired) in the profession. and seen it grow from a 10k machine that filled a room, to over a 1 gig processor that sits on your desk, I concur. Like any profession there were people who couldn't program themselves out of a room with open doors on all 4 walls, to pure geniuses. But, there were also the customers that gave you specs and said when you were completed, I really meant this ...., or couldn't you add this .... ad infinitum.

The original Austrian programmer we had was brilliant - until the Germans from wallstreet-online.de wanted to invest. Then he said no way was he sharing any code with Germans. That was a shock. So I hired another team, but at the top of the market last April, all I could get was the bottom of the barrel and it really showed. Now I can do it all myself, and get on with putting online the tools that traders really need. Stay tuned. Sanity has been restored, by yours truly. In the end, we have to do everything ourselves, I guess. T.
