OT re "We have NEVER had a party of the left" Not true. There was a large Socialist party in the U.S. until WW1. Then, President Wilson did what every President has done during a major war: suspend the Bill of Rights. The entire leadership of the Socialist Party, and associated trade unions, were hunted down, killed, sent to prison, or exiled. It was done with the same thoroughness and brutality that Stalin later showed against his enemies. Since then, you are right, there has been no party of the Left in the U.S. JS@landofthefreeandthebrave.gov
