Aus and Thread,

From the Best Buy sales report:

Comparable store sales at Best Buy increased 1.8 percent during the quarter and 4.9 percent for the year on top of 11-percent increases for both the prior year's quarter and the prior fiscal year. The Company opened six Best Buy stores in the quarter, bringing its store count to 419, up from 357 one year ago. Eleven of the 62 stores opened during fiscal 2001 were Best Buy's small-market format.

``Consumers continued to embrace new digital technology, which accounted for 15 percent of sales in the fourth quarter, compared with 10 percent a year ago. Digital products - including DVD hardware and software, cameras, camcorders, TVs and cellular phones - all experienced strong sales gains,'' Anderson said. ``We also saw growth in laptops, configure-to-order computers and PDAs, but sales of desktop computers as well as appliances remained soft.''
