Maybe the aliens would have an infallible, non-invasive method of birth control which didn't involve abstinence?

Or maybe they would be like the creatures in "The Mote in God's Eye", but hopefully not.

If they had that, Earth would probably welcome them with open arms. If they were carnivorous and had designs on us, however, it would not be in their best interests to share.
