Nokia Names Key Subcontractors For 3G Networks >NOK


STOCKHOLM (Dow Jones)--Finland's Nokia Corp. (NOK) announced the selection
of 12 major subcontractors Thursday for its third-generation mobile network
construction projects in Europe, the Middle East and Africa.
The subcontractors include Skanska Telecom Networks of Sweden, a unit of
Skanska AB (S.SKA); Flextronics Network Services of Sweden, a unit of
Singapore-based Flextronics International Ltd. (FLEX); Boke und Walterfang
GmbH of Germany; Pfleiderer AG of Germany (G.PFG); Landis Public Networks
B.V. of the Netherlands, a unit of Landis Group NV (N.LDS); and Electro
Zwijsen-Mourik B.V. of the Netherlands.
Others are Electron Telecom B.V. of the Netherlands; Spie Trindel of France;
ETS of Italy; SITE of Italy; EXi telecoms of the UK and MyCom of the UK.
No financial arrangements were disclosed.
Nokia had previously announced four other partners for 3G and GSM buildouts
in Europe, the Middle East and Africa. They are ABB Ltd. of Switzerland
(Z.ABB), Bovis Lend Lease, MKI of the U.K. and San Diego, Calif.-based
Wireless Facilities Inc. (WFII).
Nokia has announced 15 3G network agreements, including a dozen in Europe,
Middle East and Africa. The subcontractors will be tapped for construction
projects on a case-by-case basis, a spokeswoman said.
