I was taking a little liberty with the truth there. From a Bloomberg article on Fujitsu's PDA plans on 2/21/01 (link has expired):

"We are considering entering the market for personal digital assistants", or PDA's, said Tadayasu Sugita, Fujitsu's executive VP for the computer business. "One of the likely candidates for the operating system is the Palm OS", developed by the world's biggest handheld PC maker Palm Inc.

I think Carl Y, with his Sony background, probably has an edge on Microsoft with the Japanese manufacturers.
