elmat, This clears it up nicely.

An MVNO = "An organization operating a physical network infrastructure comprising, as a minimum, a GSM mobile switching center, home location register and authentication center (or 3G mobile equivalents), having its own unique mobile network code with distinct number series (where applicable), and issuing its own branded SIM cards (or 3G mobile equivalent), but without a mobile radio access network."

An example of a horizontal business model within a larger cooperative of players, where Layer 1 is handled by the established local GSM/xG, or any other wirelessco for hire.

elmatador- The data-CLEC DSL carnage continues. The once very high flyer, Copper Mountain is losing it's chairman and CFO.

Copper Mountain Sinks 14.7% on Layoffs

In spite of the CLECs falling to pieces, it does not alleviate the MSO's coaxial cable vs ILEC's twisted copper fixed line broadband battle. Pretty impressive numbers both cablecos and telcos have turned in for 2000. I still shudder to think how low the equipment providers could have gotten if the number of broadband subs came in lower than forecast. -MikeM(From Florida)
