Russian prosecution investigates alleged embezzlement by gold mining company

Moscow, 7 March: The Far Eastern department of the Russian Prosecutor-General's Office has opened a criminal case on illegal actions of Chukotskoye Zoloto [Chukotka Gold] financial and industrial company.

The PR section of the Prosecutor-General's office told Interfax today the case was opened in keeping with part 3 of Article 160 of the criminal code (misappropriation or embezzlement).

The damage caused to the country by the appropriation of a foreign currency loan by gold mining companies in the Chukotka autonomous district, in the Russian extreme northeast, is estimated at 400m roubles, which is equivalent to the price of 1,860 kilos of gold.

Richard, I'm not surprised. Corporate America will do whatever is necessary to maintain the status quo and maintain its earnings growth.

I expect the Gold Mining Sector to be the best performing sector this decade. The way most hate Gold is proof of its coming surge.
