lynn....if you have truly learned what you have posted, then although learning the hard way, you will be able to achieve your goals on the next wave up....

i learned the hard way in 1973...totally wiped out...didn't even care about 1987, as i was not in the market, invested in business and real estate...but returned in the early nineties, little by little, and when the critical mass was reached, i started selling.....for the year, i was down substantially, but still well ahead of the prior year...have a huge cap gains tax to pay, but the cash out was used for real estate...

don't understand how anyone can consider buying on potential solely on companies that were not able to turn a profit in the best of times, and now expect to do so in the worst of times.....

too many "real" companies out there, that are getting into the "bargain basement"....."cheap" is what is bought, when you can't afford "value"....long term, security always exists in a relative sense in value....
