Elizabeth, re: " ... Windows locking up ..."

My advice is to find a place about 4 stories up from which to drop the beast. Any lower and it won't smash properly. Any higher and you might not hear the delightful crunching sounds as your PC shatters on the concrete...

Or ... perform the following, in this order, until the problem is resolved:

1) Upgrade to Windows 98, Windows 4.x or Windows 2000.
2) Download every available Microsoft update.
3) Download the latest drivers for your video card.
4) Reinstall Windows starting with a boot diskette.
5) Download the latest BIOS update for your motherboard.

If that doesn't work, download StartupCop from www.zd.net and disable infrequently used start-up functions (you might try this one first!)

And if all that doesn't fix the problem, write me privately. Since you are the resident Panda keeper, a fellow SNDK shareholder, and a genuinely nice human being, I'm only too glad to be of service.

Craig

ES - I had W98. contantly locking up especially when online with Explorer but otherwise too.

Just got really really annoyed one day in December and installed W2000. Took a big effort and help from MSFT. MSFT were great.

ES I haven't had a problem since!!!!!!!! I love my W2000.

Portege 7020CT. BTW Toshiba didn't help very much as they said they hadn't shipped my model with W2000 and perhaps I should go back to W98!!!!!

Best regards,

L
