I can add to the confusion. I think I was using Reuters back then and they show this for the NASDAQ according to my Data for my chart program. Data is Open High low then close.....

10/08/1998 1420.94 1462.60 1357.09 1419.12
10/09/1998 1447.34 1493.54 1419.11 1492.49

I have data back to around 84 if you need more.

Good Luck,

Lee

Paul I believe we are going up. Advancing issues and volume has for the first time broken through the trend line of december. So has declining issues and volume. Signs of accumulation in my opinion.

It am not sure who provides data for my charting software (IQ Charts), but it looks like the same as Yahoo.

This is a c&p from Yahoo (OHLC):

9-Oct-98 1447.34 1493.54 1419.11 1492.49
8-Oct-98 1420.94 1462.60 1343.87 1419.12

I guess the conclusion is that it is inconclusive.
