mb, they made money due to consumer ignorance - the #1 profit generator. there was know history to base results on so everyone tried it b/c everyone else was doing it and it sounded "chic."

now there is a history. net advertising sucks. can yahoo make money? i'm sure they can make pennies. abe lincoln doesn't make me go "ga ga," though.

mb, i don't typically buy from yahoo unless they are price competitive. price competitive on the net means - probably losing money, maybe breaking even or slight possibility of making a few pennies.

it has nothing to do with ad placement. it has to do with ad content and the ease of substituting stores on the net.

i'm sure i've left off hundreds of resources...

advertising to lose money doesn't seem like a long lasting proposition. neither does competing with amzn to see who can retail at a loss.
