Lab giant Technicolor and fiber optics networker Qualcomm, who together hope to distribute pictures electronically to theaters, announced their financing proposal to the press after a luncheon on electronic cinema at the annual ShoWest confab of movie theater owners.

According to the "Satellite presentation transmission" you attached to your message. It states the Satellite transmission is superior to other transmissions methods when large quantities are being sent. If they are using satellite why don't they just say who there using?

Cinema isn't going to beamed with a LEO -- just doesn't make sense. It does make perfect sense, however, for a GEO, and in fact there have been several trials of that over the last year or two. I think this Q* announcment is old. Perhaps it is an announcment of actually going to market, instead of just more testing.
