MHA: You asked "What kind of things would you like JC do ?"

Well, it's more of a sentiment than an action thing. But for example, on this whole "Pooling" versus "Purchase" accounting nonsense. CSCO was whining up and down that eliminating pooling accounting would hurt their business model. That's like complaining that changing from imperial units (feet) to metric (meters) makes me shorter. Cosmetic, or substance?

It's not like the analysts can't figure out what to add and subtract to create their own pro-forma picture & compare between two companies. Ask yourself, does "pro-forma" matter, or is it cosmetic. Why would CSCO pander to cosmetics?

I might even expect to see the soundbites discussing CSCO's contribution to the nation and to the industry, rather than a narrow focus on bottom-line growth. But that's probably asking a bit too much.

These just a few examples. Again, it's a feeling kind of thing. Compare the press and hype around CSCO with that around Coke or IBM or the other venerables who know their place in the sun is assured.

Just MHO, of course.

John.
