Re semi equips: the most critical question for me in the whole INTC call is whether they are still maintaining their capex plans at the level they previously boasted about. INTC nailing its flag to the mast on capex has been the single factor keeping the semi equip sector from tanking further. If they back off now, it will be an ugly day in semi equip land tomorrow.

R:

Intel was expected to spend big bucks again this year on equipment. Do we make any bets on whether INTC's capital budget gets smacked as they attempt to cut costs? (g)

And I wonder if a few more dots get connected and the orphan RMBS is finally cut from the will.

I suspect the bull's semi equipment hide-out gets trashed by the bears tonight. I hope no one was in there snoozing in a sleeping bag. (g)

I also think we see a bit of "re-assessment" of the semis in the morn. INTC's 25% reduction is bound to get the attention of even the most fervent semi bulls. I would not want to be a mo-mo tech fund manager tonight, unless I had been in touch with Joel's company of late. (g)
