Kash I would not know where to start with pork bellies or gold if someone would ask me :-)) As you very well aware that design of each investment strategy starts with the definition of the goals and constraints. What you are describing is a constraint. If you design your goal to be a financial stability and share rather than unit price the described constraint in no way should prevent you from hedging against adverse affects.
