Re: Now excuse me while I

You'll probably get a raise. If there's one thing Intel cannot do without right now, it's the engineers to design and test the new products they absolutely must have as soon as possible.

RE: "Now excuse me while I kiss up to my managers ..."

If it's any consolation, your managers could be doing the same to their managers, who in turn could be doing the same to their managers, who in turn etc. etc. until you get to top, where your CEO could be doing the same to his customers, shareholders, and Board. And then the Board could be doing the same to the shareholders. It's a circle. There's no getting out of having a boss, even if you start a company your customers are all your boss. You/we will always have a boss. This is life.

But this downturn is only temporary. It's easy to forget this. Cycles come and cycles go. Boom, bust, boom. This is the American cycle. Eventually this particular bust cycle will end. Hang tough.
