UBS Warburg cuts GlobeSpan view
NEW YORK, March 8 (Reuters) - UBS Warburg said on Thursday it lowered earnings estimates on GlobeSpan Inc. (NASDAQ:GSPN), a developer of DSL circuits, in response to the general weakening in the communications sector that has been reported by other chip companies.

Analyst David Wong lowered the 2001 estimate to 64 cents from 86 cents per share. He cut the 2002 estimate to 85 cents from $1.05 per share.

Wong maintained a "Buy" rating on GlobeSpan with a 12-month stock price target of $40.

"We believe that the market for DSL is showing more weakness in the US than internationally," he said in a research note.

Shares of GlobeSpan fell $1-15/16 to $23-7/8 in early morning Nasdaq trading. The stock's 52-week range is between $17-11/16 and $167
