I would also not vote for a moderated thread....at this time. I agree with Don Green that the bulls and bears on the thread have each had their days, and the constant give and take, interspersed by real news once in a while, gives me the best perspective on this company as an investment at any given time. However, there are things, if I were King, I would ask not occur:

1. (I can see this one coming...sigh). Scumbria, please do not constantly post everyone's two and three year old posts. It loses its appeal real fast. In fact, it just gets boring.

2. The insult game is clever for about two posts from each combatent, then it just gets dreary. Time will tell us who was smarter, more accurate, a lier, the biggest drinker, etc. Scumbria can then go back, two years from now, and post all the relevant posts to prove who the winner was.

3. As we head into the trials later this month I, for one, would welcome even more analysis of the possible and/or likely outcomes. Sure, it ain't on Court TV but there will still be "leaks" and positions taken. Hey, we might even get some settlements. This could be, actually, fun. We need a little more fun on this thread. Like P4/Rambus contests!!

4. I have never used the SI ignore button, but I use it on Yahoo all the time. I prefer an open, free-flowing, opinionated forum without the personal slights. Maybe too much to ask, but, as I said..if I were King.

4. Oh, and finally, I remain a Rambus Bull...Go RMBS (not dead, dead, dead quite yet).

Pomp

Scumbria,

LOL.

Actually, this is one of my nightmares, that is that somebody will go through my old posts from years ago, and point out some idiotic ones to me.

I wonder if Timna wasn't conceived to compete against Jalapeno. I guess the Timna team in Israel continued to work on the design (like some of the Japanese soldiers found on islands after the war, who didn't know the war ended).

Anyway, I still it is a good idea to move the memory controller on the CPU die, you just need to bet on the right memory. Just because the 2 companies that tried (or said they were going to try) bet on the wrong memory - RDRAM.

I guess time will tell if it will happen (most likely with AMD and DDR) and how successful it will be. I think Jalapeno and Timna had more strike against them than the onchip memory controller, mainly onchip graphics, which generally gets obsolete every 6 months, vs. once per year for a memory speed grade, and once in 3+ years that memory type changes. (FPM -> EDO -> SDRAM -> DDR SDRAM)
