FWIW--I heard on the car radio that the society of civil engineers stated that the infrastructure of the US is in terrible shape and may need, I believe, $100 billion in money for essential repairs--bridges, tunnels,rails, roads, etc.

That is sort of like going to a head-shrinker and telling him of your emotional problem. You won't be told "heck, everyone feels sad when someone dies" as that would mean you would be on your way.. .but he will tell you "let me schedule a series of therapy appointments at $150/hr. We ought to have you feeling better about that problem in 20 weeks or so."

BTW, I wonder how much of that would be paid by gas tax if all the gas tax went to infrastructure?
